Sexual Exploitation Policy

Overview

Content that features or endorses child sexual exploitation is not permitted on Goodbye App in any form. That covers text, imagery, illustrations and computer-generated depictions alike.

Regardless of the intent behind it, sharing or linking to material involving child sexual exploitation perpetuates the victimization of the depicted children. This policy also extends to any content that may further contribute to the victimization of minors by promoting or glorifying such exploitation. For the purposes of this policy, a minor is defined as any individual under the age of 18.

What Constitutes a Violation of This Policy?

Any content that portrays or advocates for child sexual exploitation, including but not limited to:

• Visual representations of a child involved in sexually explicit or suggestive activities.
• Illustrated, computer-generated, or other realistic depictions of a human child in sexually explicit situations or engaging in such acts.
• Sexualized remarks directed towards known or unknown minors.
• Links to external websites hosting material related to child sexual exploitation.

Additionally, the following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

• Sharing or promoting fantasies involving child sexual exploitation.
• Expressing a desire to obtain materials depicting child sexual exploitation.
• Soliciting, advertising, or expressing interest in commercial sex acts involving minors, or activities related to harboring or transporting children for sexual purposes.
• Initiating or attempting to initiate sexually explicit conversations with minors.
• Coercing or attempting to coerce minors into providing sexually explicit media or engaging in sexual activities through blackmail or other means of manipulation.
• Identifying another person as a victim of childhood sexual exploitation, by name or by image, where that person has not chosen to be named. This does not apply to your own account of your own life, which is covered below.
• Normalizing or promoting sexual attraction to minors as a form of identity or sexual orientation.

What Does Not Constitute a Violation of This Policy?

Your own history is yours to tell. If you were sexually exploited or abused as a child, you may write about it here, at whatever length you need, to the people you are writing to. You may name yourself. You may say who did it and what they did, and quote what was said to you. The rule above about identifying victims is there so that one person cannot name another as a victim who did not choose to be named. It has never applied to your account of your own life, and it does not apply to it now.

The one part of this that has no exception is an image. A photograph or video of a nude or partially nude child is not permitted here even when the child in it is you, so write that part in words.

What decides it is the post itself. An account of what happened to you is allowed, whatever it has to describe, and it is allowed at the length it takes to tell. A post whose substance is sexual description of a child is not, whoever it is said to be about: if you take the account away and what is left is the description, that is the thing this policy forbids. Both of those are things a person reading a report can see for themselves.

Discussions concerning child sexual exploitation are permissible, as long as they do not normalize, promote, or glorify such exploitation in any manner.

Conversations about people seeking help for an attraction to minors are permitted.

Advocacy against illegal or harmful activities involving minors is allowed, provided there is no sharing or linking to material featuring child sexual exploitation.

None of this extends to images. An image or video of a nude or partially nude minor is not permitted here. There is no context, artistic, journalistic, scientific, educational, documentary or family, in which such an image is permitted, and no exception for one shared with good intentions.

Who can report violations of this policy?

Any user with a Goodbye App account has the ability to report potential violations of this policy.

In-app and Desktop

You can report content for review in-app and desktop as follows:

1. Select Report Account from the icon:
2. Select "Offensive words or symbols", or "Nudity or sexual behavior.", or "Violence or dangerous organizations".
3. Submit your report.

We do not screen content before it is posted, so a report is how this reaches us. Every report reaches a person, and we review reports within 24 hours of receiving them.

Consequences of Policy Violations:

Immediate and permanent suspension.
