Excessive gore, violent content, adult material, and media depicting sexual violence or assault are not permitted on the platform. People read this service in the middle of an illness or a bereavement, often on a day when they have just been told something, and material of that kind is hard to come upon without warning.
We do not screen anything before it is posted, and we do not use automated systems to look for it. This policy runs on reports. Anyone with an account can report a post, a comment or an account, a person reads every report, and we review reports within 24 hours of receiving them. Content we find in breach is removed, and we act on the account that posted it.
Graphic content:
Graphic content refers to media that portrays violence, or the harm violence has done, in a detailed and explicit manner. This includes depictions of violent crimes or accidents, physical fights, abuse, mutilation, injuries inflicted on a person, and images of severely injured or mutilated animals. None of it is permitted here. When it is reported to us we remove it, and we act on the account that posted it.
This rule is about violence, and it is not aimed at your own body. Photographs of your own body, your own illness, your own treatment and your own dying are permitted here. A surgical scar, a hospital bed, a drain or a line, a wound that is healing, the last photograph anyone takes of you: none of that is graphic content under this policy. You do not need a warning on it, you do not need a reason for it, and you do not need our permission to show the people you are writing to what is happening to you. What this allowance covers is a picture of illness, treatment or dying, and that is something a person reading a report can see in the picture itself. A caption saying whose body it is does not put an image inside the allowance, and it does not carry in a picture of violence done to someone. Nudity is dealt with separately below, and the health situations named there are permitted as well.
There is no documentary or educational exception to the rule on graphic content, and a caption warning does not create one. We do not screen anything before it is posted and we cannot read the intent behind an image, so a rule that turned on why something was shared would be a rule we could not apply evenly to two people who shared the same picture. The rule is about the depiction itself, not about how it is introduced or labeled. If graphic material of this kind matters to what you are writing, describe it in words instead of showing it.
Writing about these things is not a violation of this policy. This is a service for people at the end of their life and for the people they leave behind, and much of what is written here is illness, dying, grief, and harm that was done to you. You can say all of it plainly, in your own words, to the people you are writing to. What this section prohibits is the graphic depiction, not the subject.
Violent sexual conduct
Violent sexual conduct refers to media that depicts violence, whether real or simulated, in conjunction with sexual acts. This category includes depictions of rape and other forms of violent sexual assault, or sexual acts that occur without the consent of participants, including simulated lack of consent. It also encompasses sexualized violence, which involves inflicting physical harm on an individual within an intimate setting, where it is not immediately obvious if those involved have consented to take part.
Adult nudity and sexual behavior
Adult nudity and sexual behavior refers to media that shows nudity or sexual activity. What decides it is what the picture shows, not what it was made for or who agreed to it being made. This category includes depictions of full or partial nudity, including close-ups of genitals, buttocks, or breasts (excluding content related to breastfeeding), simulated sexual acts, and sexual intercourse or other sexual acts. This policy also applies to cartoons, hentai, or anime involving humans or depictions of animals with human-like features.
There is no artistic or educational exception to this. The only nudity permitted here is the narrow set named in our Community Guidelines: breastfeeding, birth and the moments after it, health situations such as post-mastectomy, breast cancer awareness or gender confirmation surgery, and acts of protest. Nothing outside that set is permitted, whatever the intent behind it.
Every one of those allowances is about an adult's own body, and none of them extends to a child's. An image or video of a nude or partially nude minor is not permitted here in any context, and no allowance above covers one, including where the same allowance would cover an adult in the same picture.
What is permitted is still open to report. If you think something in that narrow set has been posted here to sexualize a person rather than for the reason the exception exists, report it and a person will read the report and decide it.
Bestiality and Necrophilia
Bestiality refers to any media depicting sexual acts between a human and an animal, while necrophilia involves sexual acts between a living human and a human corpse. These are prohibited categories that are not allowed on our platform.
Gratuitous Gore
Gratuitous Gore refers to media that excessively portrays graphic or gruesome content related to death, violence, or severe physical harm. This includes depictions of dismembered or mutilated humans, charred or burned human remains, exposed internal organs or bones, and animal torture or killing. None of it is permitted here.
Any user with a Goodbye App account has the ability to report potential violations of this policy.

Our approach to enforcement depends on several factors, including the type of content shared, and the account's history of violations. If you breach this policy we will require you to remove the content. Additionally, we may temporarily lock your account to prevent further posting. Your account may be permanently suspended if most of what you post on Goodbye App is media that breaks this policy. Repeat violations or accounts dedicated to promoting self-harm or suicide will result in permanent suspension. Every one of those decisions is made by a person reading the account, not by an automated system.
