At Goodbye App, we uphold a strict policy against targeting individuals based on their race, ethnicity, national origin, caste, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious beliefs, age, disability, or health condition.
Nothing is screened before it is posted, so a report is how this reaches us. A person reads every report, and we review reports within 24 hours of receiving them. That is why this policy turns on what is on the page rather than on why it was written: a person reading a report can see who words are turned on, and cannot see what was in someone's head.
Hateful Profiles: You are not allowed to use hateful images or symbols in your profile picture or header, nor should you use your username, display name, or profile biography to engage in abusive behavior, such as targeted harassment or expressing hate towards individuals, groups, or protected categories.
Hateful Imagery: Hateful imagery means logos, symbols, or images that stand for hostility or contempt towards people because of their race, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethnicity, or nationality. Examples of hateful imagery include symbols historically associated with hate groups like the Nazi swastika, images that depict individuals as subhuman or incorporate hateful symbols, and images manipulated to include references to mass murders targeting protected categories, such as the Holocaust. Hateful imagery is not permitted anywhere on this service: not in a video, not in a profile image or header, not in an account biography, and not in a post or a comment. There is no labeling feature here, no way to mark something as sensitive media and leave it up, and no third place to put it. It is either not there or it is removed. Sending unsolicited hateful imagery to a person breaks this policy as well.
This section is about the image. Writing about these symbols is not a violation of it. If one of them stood over your childhood, your family, your country or your own body, you may say so here, name it, and say what was done under it. What has no exception is the picture, so put that part in words.
Encouraging Harassment: It is forbidden to urge others to engage in harassment against individuals belonging to a protected category, whether on or off the platform.
Encouraging Fear or Stereotypes: It is forbidden to incite fear or spread unfounded stereotypes about any protected category. This includes making baseless claims that members of a certain group are more prone to engaging in dangerous or unlawful activities, such as labeling an entire religious group as terrorists.
Slurs and Stereotypes: Turning a derogatory slur on a person or on a protected category is prohibited here, and so is content that degrades a protected category or repeats a harmful stereotype about it. Content that does this is removed. There is no lesser measure to fall back on: we cannot show a post to fewer people, or leave it up with less reach, because nothing here can do that. A post is either left alone or taken down.
This rule is about words turned on somebody. Quoting what was said to you is a different thing, and it is allowed. In your own account of what happened to you, you may set the words down as they were said: the slur a parent used, what was shouted during an assault, what was said to you on the ward. What you wrote will not be removed for containing them, and you do not have to sand your own story down to be allowed to tell it here. Both of those are things a person reading a report can see for themselves.
Dehumanizing Content: It is against our policies to dehumanize any group of people based on factors such as religion, caste, age, disability, serious illness, nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
Encouraging Discrimination: It is prohibited to prompt others to discriminate by withholding support from an individual or group's economic activities based on their perceived membership in a protected category. For example, statements like "If you shop at a store owned by [religious group], you are backing those [derogatory term], let's refrain from financially supporting these [derogatory term]" are not allowed. Please note that this does not encompass content of a political nature, including political discourse or discussions related to boycotts or protests.
Everything in this section turns on the same thing the rules above do: whether words are turned on a person or a protected category, or only written down. That is something a person reading a report can see. None of it turns on why you wrote it, because nobody here can read that.

None of these exceptions covers a slur or a stereotype pointed at somebody. Putting the words in a quotation, a joke, or a lesson does not change who they are pointed at, and who they are pointed at is what this policy reads.

You can report content for review in-app and desktop as follows:
What follows a breach depends on what was posted, on how much of it there is, and on the account's record. Content that breaks this policy is removed. A profile image, header, or biography that breaks it is removed from the account. An account may be locked for a time, and it may be suspended. Where the answer is a warning, you are written to and told what was wrong. You are told either way: a removal comes with a notice to your account and to the email address on it, saying what was removed, and whether you can appeal it. Every one of those decisions is made by a person reading the account.
